American Conservative Union Presents Kowall Award for Conservative Achievement
(White Lake Township, Mich.) – The American Conservative Union Foundation has awarded Senator Majority Floor Leader Mike Kowall the Award for Conservative Achievement for his conservative record in reducing the size of government, cutting taxes and regulations, and protecting the Second Amendment.
“Michigan lawmakers cut taxes, protected Second Amendment rights, and eliminated absurd obstacles that prevent individuals from earning a living,” said American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp.
“I’ve worked hard to get government out of the way of the private sector to unleash our job-creators and our incredible labor force,” said Kowall, a champion of the Michigan auto industry. “Our efforts over the last few years have pulled Michigan out of the worst recession in decades to record low unemployment and 500,000 new jobs in the state. In Congress, I will continue this conservative record of achievement.”
Earlier this year, Inside Michigan Politics named Kowall the 3rd most conservative member of the State Senate.
Mike Kowall was elected to the Michigan Senate in 2010 and serves as Majority Floor Leader. A successful small businessman before running for office, he began his public service on the White Lake Township Planning Commission, and then township supervisor. He went on to serve two terms in State House of Representatives before returning to the private sector for eight years. Kowall is known for his focus on jobs and the economy, winning several awards from business groups for his leadership in the Senate.
