Senator Mike Kowall Announces Bid for Congress
(Novi, Mich.) – Senate Republican Floor Leader Mike Kowall has announced his bid to replace
outgoing Representative David Trott in Michigan’s 11 th Congressional District. Kowall’s
campaign will be focused on creating good paying jobs and growing our regional economy.
“As a businessman and lifelong resident of Southeast Michigan, I know what an incredible place
this is to live, work and raise a family. In my conversations with the residents of Oakland and
Wayne Counties over the last few months, it became clear to me that they wanted someone
who is ready to go toe-to- toe with the Washington establishment.”
“The families, seniors and veterans of our community need a strong voice in Washington and
that’s why I’m running,” continued Kowall.
As a member of Senate leadership, Kowall has been instrumental in managing pro-jobs
legislation through the Legislature, and is known for his tireless work for seniors and veterans.
He has also authored legislation to expand the development of autonomous vehicles.
“I will remain committed to getting the government out of people’s lives and pocketbooks. I will
also continue to be an unwavering advocate for our nation’s veterans, while working for
policies that help create new and better jobs here in Southeast Michigan. We must ensure our
business climate is such that new ideas and technologies like autonomous vehicles can be freely
and safely explored, and give future generations the tools and education they need to be ready
for 21 st century careers.”
Senator Kowall received the Michigan Home Builders Association’s 2017 Service Award, and
was Legislator of the Year for the Michigan Manufacturers Association in 2017 and the Small
Business Association in 2014.
